DRAKE THE AMAZING + LA DISPUTE by Andy Hyman

"A tantalising double bill by writer, Andy Hyman; two sharp comedies exploring love, lust and transformation.

Drake The Amazing is a shamelessly comic, fast-paced look at a forgotten age – a love letter to vaudeville theatre. Legend persists that one Autumn night in 1911 Alden Drake, an otherwise unremarkable actor, became the best in the business. How did he get there? And who helped him? A laugh-out-loud tale of love in the wings and one man’s transformation from plain-old Alden into Drake The Amazing.

La Dispute traces a chaotic journey through the joys and devastations of romantic love. Marivaux’s original tale is brilliantly re-told for the 21st century. On the eve of a grand party, a wealthy man invites guests to witness a long-awaited experiment to determine which sex is less faithful, man or woman? Two boys and two girls raised in isolation for twenty years are about to meet for the first time. From the giddiness of first romance to the pangs of betrayal, witness a tantalising experiment in love and desire."

8pm Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm Sunday between 20 July - 3 August.

When I've had a really stressful day, I put cucumbers over my eyes for ten minutes when I get home. Very relaxing!

Nothing beats a long hard run or some sport to take the mind off work and on to more important things... like being fit and healthy!

  7. In summer catch the bus direct from work to the beach and b-line it into the surf. Followed by drinking a cider on the sand.

My post-work ritual is the cliff walk from dover heights to watsons bay. The harbour on one side, wild ocean waves on the other. Reminds me that syney is the most beautiful city in the world!

In summer - run on the beach, dip in the ocean and a G&T on the balcony
In winter - big cook-off, glass of red and dark chilli chocolate

  14. Something to release my energy and get a good shot of endorphins to make me feel alive. Try salsa dancing, a pump class, hockey or a big run... then a good book to switch off before sleep.

I like a long run/swim/etc as much as the next person, although nothing beats a couple of hours of Family Guy :)

Immediately post work it's always interesting listening to everyone on the bus who enjoys telling the rest of the world their problems whilst shouting down their mobiles. Always makes me feel better! Otherwise, all of the above works for me too! ruthiebabs@hotmail.com

Just settling in to my post work stress release now... it involves 'Sunday in the Park with George', fried chicken, and a whole lot of sugar! There's nothing like Bernadette Peters and doing something you know you'll regret later to make you happy again.

Tim tams dunked in tea while sitting on the balcony listening to the birds - as far from the city as possible.
